Client - Console Application
The Client Console application is a cross platform admin console designed for administrators to quickly access data through command-line-only functionality. This still has the full LemonEdge platform capabilities, just without Office integration or visual components.
Console Compatibility
The Client Console application is a multi-platform application that can run on Mac, Linux and Windows.
The Core Console requires .net 5 to run correctly.
The Core Console aims to provide all the functionality of the Full Desktop Application, minus Office Integration and Graphics, that can work across different operating systems seamlessly. The main purpose of this is to provide Admins with a tool they can use to administer the application in a way that can integrate with their other administrative tools. They can create scripts that can be run via the Core Console to automate tasks and other processes on schedules or in reaction to other triggers. There is, of course, the ability to create scheduled tasks within the application itself but this provides a far more convenient mechanism to integrate their administrative tasks into their current practices and tools.
Tip
This provides an extremely easy and powerful sets of tools to allow system administrators to integrate any tasks they need performed with LemonEdge into their existing methods in a reliable and traceable manner.
Console Features
The Console application contains all the LemonEdge capabilities where possible that can work universally across any operating system and interact in a text only manner.
As a result of the application being a cross platform command line tool the following functionality is restricted:
- Graphics
- No charts, graphs or structure diagrams can be shown.
- Office Integration
- There is no integration with Excel or Word. Data can still be exported to csv and utilised in operating specific applications.
- Layout Designer
- The Layout Designer is only operational in the Full Windows Desktop
- General Control Editing
- The controls and grids aren't as fluid as they will be for the Full Desktop.
Note
In essence the Core Console Application still allows manipulation of all LemonEdge functionality just through restrictions for Windows specific functionality such as Office Integration and being only able to interact via text.
