Period Closings View
The Period Closings view allows a mechanism for closing financial periods against legal entities in the system that have a GL.
Period Closing Features
Period Closings work against an Object Entity type that have been marked as having a GL [more info]. This includes Companies and People as core parts of the LemonEdge platform, but also any Custom Entity inheriting Object Entity created through our Auto-Code Designers or API.
Whenever a Period is closed against this Entity, then any Transactions booked to this entity with a Transaction Date less than or equal to the latest Closed Period date will have a financial date that is pushed to the next day (The next available date in the next open period).
Note
Closing Periods provides an easy mechanism to ensure any changes in the GL anywhere in the system that are booked against this Entity will only have Financial Dates in the next open period.
Tip
You can bulk close periods using the Period End functionality to automatically create a Period Closed Date with the Period End Transaction Date for every entity in the Structure.
Period Closing Properties
The Entity Period Closings view has the following properties:
Name | Description |
---|---|
Period Closed Date | The date that this Period closes on. All Transactions booked to this Entity with a date equal to or less than this date will now be in a closed period. Any changes will cancel/correct to the next open financial period. |
Note
A Period Closing has the standard set of commands and functions when being viewed from a grid. See our standard grid functionality.
