Instrument Capital Account Data Settings
Instrument Capital Account Data Settings determine how Transactions against Instruments are accounted for in Period End processing.
Instrument Capital Account Data Features
Instrument Capital Account Data Settings allow you to alter how Transactions against certain Instruments are treated during Period End processing.
By default all GL Postings against all Transactions in an Entity Set, within the correct date ranges, are accounted for during a Period End calculation. These settings allow you to change some of that behavior:
You can exclude all Transactions against certain Instruments from being included in the Period End process. Those Transactions and associated GL Postings will be ignored.
You can also change the Split used for allocating the transaction values from that Instrument. By default the system will use the Allocation Path and take the A Value from it to allocate the Values. You can change this to use the B values from the path instead if you want the allocation for certain Instruments to use different rules.
Reporting
Once you've made these changes this is all accounted for in the Period End processing by utilizing the GetInstrumentCapitalAccountDataSettings system SQL Wrapper.
This SQL Wrapper is designed with the ability for you to alter it in mind. This way you can expand Instrument Capital Account Data Settings to be attributes of Custom Entities that hold Instruments, or to work with Instrument Sets, or any other mechanisms that make sense given your particular industry in financial services.
Tip
You can then easily identify appropriate groups of Instruments that should have certain settings rather than applying them by individual Instrument. By altering this SQL Wrapper all your changes are immediately incorporated into the Period End processing to account for the settings across all Instruments even if you've made those custom.
